Letter from a soldier: http://www.civilwararchive.com/LETTERS/norton.htm
Response: The quarters in which William Norton was staying in did not seem to have good food. He probably eats poor tasting slop every day, because he requests such a variety of different food to be sent to him. Also, He was in the hospital for 2 weeks which most likely means that the health care in the army was not very good. It must have been hard for the soldiers to keep in contact with their loved ones because all the soldiers had to communicate back then was snail mail. He had not yet heard from his own mother since he had been in the army.

I chose this piece of artwork because I feel that it accurately portrays the sacrifice that was made by soldiers during the civil war. It also shows just how much gunpowder and weaponry was used during the fighting that led to the free country that we live in today.
